A little bit about Ann

- For most my career I have worked as a journalist and communication specialist for agencies of the Lutheran church. For four years I served as US coordinator for the World Council of Churches' Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI) - www.eappi-us.org My book is "Water from the Rock – Lutheran Voices from Palestine," an Augsburg Fortress publication. Since first visiting the Middle East as a pilgrim in 1977, I have returned to Israel and Palestine at least 25 times. I worked on travel seminars to the Middle East while working for the Center for Global Education, Augsburg College, Minneapolis. I have led three groups to the region from the ELCA's Northern Texas-Northern Louisiana Synod, including three ELCA bishops. I served on the Board of Friends of Sabeel-North America for eight years. I have a degree in journalism from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. I am a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Weatherford, Texas, where my husband Franz Schemmel serves as the pastor.
