For most my career I have worked as a journalist and communication specialist for agencies of the Lutheran church. I presently serve as US coordinator for the World Council of Churches' Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI) - www.eappi-us.org
For four years I was coordinator for Middle East networks for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
My book is "Water from the Rock – Lutheran Voices from Palestine," an Augsburg Fortress publication.
Since first visiting the Middle East as a pilgrim in 1977, I have returned to Israel and Palestine 16 times. I was involved with travel seminars to the Middle East while working for the Center for Global Education, Augsburg College, Minneapolis.
In 2005 I led a group that included three ELCA bishops to the region.
I serve on the steering committee of Friends of Sabeel-North America.
I have a degree in journalism from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. I am a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Weatherford, Texas, where my husband Franz Schemmel serves as the pastor.
Friends, Here's a link to a beautiful short film from Greece: http://www.wimp.com/whatis/
Don't wait until next Father's Day next year to share with it with those you love.
